Vote For Clay Crumbliss

My Bio

After four years serving on the Signal Mountain Town Council, and with much more work still ahead, I am running for re-election. Signal Mountain is our home. It's where Rachael and I are raising our two children, and it's where we plan to stay. Wherever we have found ourselves over the years, we have tried to live by a simple mantra: bloom where you're planted. For us, that means investing in the place you call home, using your gifts to serve the people around you, and leaving things just a little better than you found them. Over the past four years, the council has held the line on property taxes while meaningfully increasing compensation for our town employees. We are pushing hard for operational efficiencies, investing in long-deferred infrastructure, and implementing a long-term capital plan that gives the town a roadmap rather than a reactive, year-to-year approach. We took on the growth question this community has been raising for years, and we passed significant zoning changes consistent with our own Land Use Plan, bringing our residential density rules in line with what our roads, schools, and wastewater infrastructure can support. I have stood before the Hamilton County Commission to oppose Plan Hamilton in its current form, advocating directly for the interests of Signal Mountain and the entire Walden's Ridge community — that work is far from finished. I am proud of what we are building together, and I am genuinely excited about what’s ahead. The priorities that drive me today are the same ones that brought me to this race four years ago: spend wisely, grow carefully, and govern honestly.

My Key Issues

PRAGMATIC BUDGET

Spend wisely. Signal Mountain carries one of the highest property tax rates in Hamilton County. Residents deserve a council that treats every dollar with discipline — finding real efficiencies, building a sustainable budget, and never passing today's problems on to tomorrow's taxpayers.

RESPONSIBLE GROWTH

Grow carefully. The pressure to overdevelop Signal Mountain is real and accelerating. Our roads, sewers, and schools are already strained. Growth will happen — but it must honor our Land Use Plan and protect the small-town character that makes this community worth living in.

ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT

Govern honestly. A town this small should have the most transparent government of all. Every resident deserves to know how decisions are made and why. I am committed to open meetings, honest communication, and a consistent standard of accountability.
